Much of the work is accomplished with the assistance of the Internet. We have the ability to recover deleted e-mails, files, and other data. Computers allow us to obtain huge amounts of information in a short period of time, such as records of a subject’s prior arrest record, their convictions, and any civil legal judgments. We can also find telephone numbers; information concerning vehicle registrations; records of past and present association and club memberships; social networking site details; and even photographs. The Internet certainly gives a private investigator a large array of tools to work with.

You just got an anonymous email or call stating that your spouse is having an affair. Your blood is boiling and your hands are shaking. But how can you tell if this tip means you’ve got a cheating spouse, vs. if someone is just out to cause trouble for you and your partner?

First of all, did your new “friend” deliver any kind of verifiable information? If they gave you information you can check for a fact–such as where your partner “really” is when he or she says they are staying late at work on Thursdays–then this is easy enough to check. If that fact checks out, then you should definitely ask what else they know!

A Cheating Spouse Is Generally More, Not Less, Attentive To You

Usually, a sharp increase in attention is a sign of cheating. At least at the beginning of the affair. This is due to guilt that the cheater may be feeling at the time. The partner which is not cheating can do no wrong. Things that might have upset the cheating spouse before, no longer affect him or her. Again, the cheater is feeling guilty and excuses behavior that would normally be upsetting. It’s basically overcompensation.

Keeping Secrets

A cheating husband or cheating wife wants to keep your nose out of their day-to-day ‘affairs’. They use sweeping generalities when asked about daily events and they don’t offer or advertise any information without you first prompting them. A cheating spouse will often turn the subject away from themselves when questioned.

You Have A Feeling

Your intuition is one of the most powerful tools you have to catch a cheating spouse. You should trust your instincts, but be careful you don’t let your suspicion get the better of you. Suspicion is an extremely strong emotion and it’s not easy to hide. Suspicious people tend to advertise their doubts by making accusations, acting insecure or anxious, being overly inquisitive, and so on. If you want to catch a cheating spouse, it is important to keep your cool and not ‘let on’ that you are questioning their faithfulness.

It is best, if at all possible, to try to separate the from the emotion and logically examine why your intuition is telling you these things. What are the causes? What exactly is triggering this response in your mind? Follow the clues; and if your intuition becomes suspicion, then it may be time to look into hiring a private investigator to for a thorough investigation.

There is nothing worse than being in desperate need for help, hiring a private investigator to do their job, and then finding out the PI has made things even worse and you now have entirely new problems to deal with on top of the, sitll existing, old ones.

Believe us, it happens all too often!

In the real world, a private investigator must earn the trust of his clients over time by building solid relationships, providing detailed and on-time information, and using the utmost professionalism in each and every case. However, when you are looking to hire an investigator with immediacy, then chances are you don’t have this luxury. Don’t be afraid, then, to be completely blunt with your questions about experience and processes. Never hire a private investigator solely based upon advertisements.

We’ve been in business for over 27 years and conducted over 10,000 investigations of all kinds. We’ve seen bad investigators come and go. Unfortunately, there’s never a shortage.

In 1833 Eugène François Vidocq, a French soldier, criminal and privateer, founded the first known private detective agency. Vidocq is credited with having introduced record-keeping, criminology and ballistics to criminal investigation. He made the first plaster casts of shoe impressions. He created indelible ink and unalterable bond paper with his printing company.

Private Investigations was born from the need for police work that the local lawkeepers were unable or unwilling to do. Private investigators flourished in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The services of private investigators was not available in the United States until around the late 1920′s.

Once sucessful in the United States, the private investigations industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Investigations into cheating spouses, insurance fraud, and criminal activities have grown with the business, and helped to develop it.
